THE OLD WAY LIBRARY

In the old days, elders, the land, language, and ceremony were our teachers. Knowledge lived in stories shared around the fire, in seasons observed, in plants gathered, and in time spent walking the same paths generation after generation.

Today, many of us no longer have daily access to those elders, languages, or traditions. Books have become our printed elders, preserving voices, teachings, and ways of seeing that might otherwise be lost. While no book replaces direct experience or a living teacher, the right book points us back to both.

The Old Way Library is a growing collection of books that have shaped the thinking behind In The Old Way. Here you'll find works on Indigenous knowledge, land relationship, tracking, ethnobotany, wilderness skills, ecology, ceremony, mythology, conservation, and the enduring relationship between people and place.

Many of these titles are written by Indigenous authors, historians, field naturalists, trackers, and practitioners whose understanding comes from years spent in relationship with the living world. They remind us that knowledge is not something we simply possess. It is something we practice.
